Sarasota, Florida — The owners of a Sarasota convenience store at First Stop Food Store 919 N Washington Blvd, Sarasota, FL were arrested for dealing in stolen property on the job. During a six-month joint operation with the Sarasota Police Department, undercover detectives sold thousands of dollars in what they say was stolen jewelry to Rami Ibsais and his brother, Saed Ebsais. The transactions reportedly occurred on seven different occasions at the First Stop store in the 900 block of North Washington Boulevard. Home address for Muslims Rami Ibsais, 43 and Saed Ebsais, 41, both of 6023 44th Court East, Bradenton FL the brothers are Jordan citizens, most likely Palestinians. Rami Ibsais will be placed on an electronic monitoring device until he reports for prison on December 27th, he cannot travel outside of Manatee and Sarasota counties and must surrender his Palestinian passport.

Investigators say the brothers had been buying jewelry for the past year and a half and, during a search, deputies seized 150 pieces of gold jewelry and a significant amount of cash at the time of their arrest. Federal authorities are weighing in to determine if additional charges are warranted, according to the sheriff’s office.
The men had also obtained a Second Hand Dealer license but were not submitting the proper paperwork or documenting the transactions according to the Sarasota County ordinance. Ibsais, 43, has been charged with three counts of Dealing in Stolen Property and six counts of Violating the Second Hand Dealer ordinance. Ebsais, who is in the country on an expired visa, has been charged with two counts of Dealing in Stolen Property, two counts of Accessory to Dealing in Stolen Property and four counts of Violating the Second Hand Dealer ordinance. He was being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
