SARASOTA COUNTY – A Sarasota man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of raping a 14-year-old girl in 2013. Brian Lacy was convicted of one count of lewd and lascivious battery on a child between the ages of 12 and 16 and of witness tampering after a three-day trial in November. After the trial, Lacy pleaded no contest for failing to register his address — a requirement since he was already a convicted sexual offender — with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. Lacy was sentenced as a habitual felony offender and prison release reoffender, increasing his sentence. Upon release from prison, Lacy will be on lifetime sex offender probation. He was designated a sexual predator.
